Who  we are:

Established in 1955 as a non-profit organization consisting of thirty-seven charter members, CFUW Orillia has grown to one hundred members. The yearly program provides guest speakers, information on local advocacy issues, and opportunities to develop new friendships. We are a voluntary, non-profit, self-funded organization, active in public affairs, working to raise the social, economic and legal status of women as well as to improve education, the environment, peace, justice and human rights.

Canadian Federation of University Women is open to women of all educational backgrounds who believe in our goals and value lifelong learning.

What we do:

Guest speakers at our monthly meetings provide knowledge on local, regional, and/or national issues. These speakers may inspire the club to advocate for change. By hosting an annual Homes Tour, funds are raised for the Scholarship Fund.   All female graduates of Orillia High Schools, including the Learning Centre, are eligible to apply.   Members join Interest Groups to fit their passion and make new friends. The annual Holiday Dinner and Silent Auction raises money for the club’s operations. We have a banquet in the spring with a guest speaker and then we end the year with an informal pot luck dinner in June.
